Very kind and patient staff! The food is incredibly delicious; vegetable chili momos are my favorite. Portions are perfectly sized. It’s a long drive from where I live, but it’s absolutely worth it! Looking forward to visiting again.

A friend picked up take out for us. I ordered butter chicken and pita. Even after a 10 minute drive home, the food was piping hot and emitting the most amazing aromas from the bag. The pita was soft and fluffy with bit of a chew and delicious! The butter chicken was tender and flavorful covered in a sauce that begged to be dipped with the naan. We will definitely order again and again!

Very delicious food. You can tell they care deeply about the way their food tastes and the presentation. The spices shine through and arn't and afterthought of complacency. Server was an ambassador to Nepalese cuisine!

Love Nepalese food. In Chicago we have good options. I was surprised there was one in DSM. Got the thali which was amazing! Haven’t had a good thali since visiting southern Asia.

Spice of Nepal in Iowa – A Taste of Home Away from Home Tucked away in the heart of Iowa, Spice of Nepal is a hidden treasure that brings authentic Nepali flavors to the Midwest. This beautifully family-owned restaurant captures the essence of Nepal — from its warm hospitality to its soul-satisfying cuisine. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared using traditional recipes and aromatic spices that instantly transport you to the Himalayas. Whether it’s their juicy momos, flavorful chicken curry, or comforting daal bhat, every bite is packed with love and cultural richness. What truly sets this place apart is the feeling of being welcomed like family. During my visit, the hospitality was beyond amazing — I felt truly at home, even while traveling. If you’re in Iowa and craving something special, Spice of Nepal is a must-visit. Add it to your bucket list!

What an amazing experience at Spices of Nepal. I had my expectations very little after experiencing Indian food here in USA but I was surprised by the taste at this restaurant. I simply loved it and I am writing this review after 3 visits already. Try the chicken momos and garlic nan and chicken curry. I promise there will be no disappointment. The management are courteous.

It was one of the first places I ordered from when I moved here. It's been 2 years, and their recipes have not changed much. The Lamb Dhansak is so savory and fresh. Sometimes, it's someone else in the kitchen, and you can tell, but you're never disappointed. The lentils are delicious and the Naan is always hot and fresh from the oven (or tandoori ). The customer service here is phenomenal. I always feel welcome, and that my money is well spent. They have made custom orders for me and my 3yo. She loves the lamb dhansak broth, if thats what it is, as much as me. Possibly more even. I love the atmosphere, the service and the food is beyond satisfactory.

We have met several times to gather and eat with family over recent years and Spices of Nepal always serves great food, very reasonably priced, fresh spices, lively and fresh! Their vegetarian entree selection is especially varied. Dishes are what you would find offered at a typical Indian restaurant. Service is polite, informative (“which would you recommend?”) and checked back with to refill water and check on our satisfaction. This place is one of our faves for Indian food in Des Moines, check out their menu online. We highly recommend!
